Digitisation à la carte

Digitisation à la carte

Digitisation in publishing is progressing at an ever increasing pace. So it's no surprise that thirty per cent of products exhibited at the Frankfurt Book Fair have long since been digital.

In the same way, there is scarcely a single exhibitor today who does not do online marketing or offer electronic products. Although digital products can be viewed on many stands, it is still worth visiting the special exhibition areas dealing with digitisation – such as the Digital Market Place in the science Hall 4.2, or the collective stand "Books & Bytes" (Hall 3.0) which is dedicated to fiction.

The professional programme at the Frankfurt Book Fair focuses on issues surrounding new careers and new strategies in the digitisation process. And does so along the entire production, sales and marketing chain, from author to reader, from production to Web 2.0.

What will the bookshop of the future look like? In the age of Web 2.0 and print-on-demand, do authors actually still need publishing companies? Will conventional libraries die out? In short: what does the future have in store for us? Allow yourself to be inspired!
